Gaîté Lyrique, Paris, France
2003-2004, every night from 5 pm to dawn
La Gaîté is inundated with purple light. It breathes: the light increases in intensity then gently diminishes in endless nocturnal sequences. The body of the visitor is caught by this translucent purple façade sending out its coloured luminous waves into the surrounding space. Its mobility and chromatic qualities catch the eye and tend to stop it moving. A landscape of purple light pulses transforms our visual perception and hypnotises us.
